CGT Catalonia campaign : “28N : The best choice ? Active abstention !
Once again, citizens are expected to legitimize, with your vote, to the political power that oppresses her. We will be told, to the entire population, that we exercise popular sovereignty with our vote. We will be told to choose who, In our name, will decide the destiny of the nation.
Despite this, It is evidence that popular sovereignty is kidnapped by economic power, that uses the forces of order and the law to stifle the supportive society that we want. The political class does not rule, It is at the service of a few people who dominate and decide the destiny of hundreds of millions of people. The International Monetary Fund, the world bank, the Bildeberg club... they are the ones in charge, and they don't allow us to choose them.
We know that, with our vote, they will do and undo for four years without counting on us. We know that they will not even count on their own electoral promises. We know that with our vote we will participate in the farce and become their accomplices..
The constant cases of corruption, that multiply throughout the territory and that continually splash the big parties, They are one more example of the consequences of a low-intensity democracy that is more than questionable.. The Palau case, Belt, Old City, Malaya, Santa Coloma, or illegal financing of parties, among many others, they amply demonstrate that power corrupts and that these people are only interested in their seats and, in no case, in the representation of citizens.
So :
It's time to say enough is enough with one of the few things that hasn't been stolen from us yet., that we still have within our reach. Before the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia, let's practice active abstention.
Active abstention the next day 28 November has nothing to do with your excuses for “political disaffection”. It is the update of “sickle blow” : a peaceful protest, civilized and relentless. We know what we want, and we want it now !
Our proposals :
We want a society where participation is the main axis of social development, based on self-management, federalism, direct democracy and mutual support. We want the workers' assemblies, of neighborhoods and athenaeums, be the place where we can make agreements, between all and all, on which path to follow.
