In Memorial: CGT statement that includes a brief biography of Agustín

Our colleague Agustín Gómez Acosta has passed away, former Secretary General of CGT Andalusia, currently Secretary General of CGT Cádiz. He died suddenly early yesterday afternoon. 12 October, our friend and colleague Agustín Gómez Acosta, libertarian militant and persona grata, dialogue and committed to the social cause of freedom and justice.

From the Secretariat of CGT Andalucía we join the entire CGT, and in particular to that of Cádiz, when expressing pain for this loss, in particular his partner Milouda, to his family and closest people.

He was elected Secretary General of CGT-Andalucía in 2002, until 2006; teacher, now retired, always active both in his teaching sector, as above all in all forms of social struggle, and in the union of Various Trades of Cádiz. Now he was the Secretary General of the Regional Federation of Cádiz. Throughout his life he participated in countless and continuous social initiatives against the unbearable injustices of the system..

His deep pacifist convictions, anti-militarism and opposition to wars led him many times to organize events in front of military bases, to position themselves alongside the rebels, to denounce military expenses... His intense work in the Antimilitarist and Nonviolent Network of Andalusia will not only always be remembered, but it will be a reference for all of us, that we work side by side with him. Agustín shared with a large group of people the principles of Nonviolence.

His tireless work of solidarity with the countries of North Africa and his support for several Moroccan and Algerian unions, made him the most visible face of CGT in the Maghreb, collaborating in the CGT International Relations Secretariat.

His anarcho-syndicalist history was intense, wide and durable.

He leaves us a very clear legacy: his passion in the fight, your firm commitment, his conversational and cordial disposition, his unwavering honesty, his critical capacity and his inexhaustible hope that a world very different from this one is possible..

His death leaves us with deep pain., but his life leaves us a path to follow. See you forever, companion.
