Today 31 July CGT had called a day of strike within the entire railway sector in defense of the multiple attacks to which it is being subjected. (segregations-liberalizations-privatizations-deficient Security Plans-etc.); However, due to the tragic railway accident in Santiago de Compostela, in an act of respect for all the victims and all their families, we have postponed these planned mobilizations, without this implying that we have bowed to the decisions that are outlined to end the public and social railway model.

Communication Department Railway Sector-CGT

Seven days have passed since the tragedy, There are many interpretations about it., influencing the majority of guilty statements, exclusive, of the driver of the crashed train, shunning, in most cases, the debate on the deficiencies of security systems and the responsibilities that arise from them.

CGT has always been committed to safety, as well as with training and health, understanding that to guarantee it, it is essential that the Annual Security Plans are equipped with all the necessary means to do so.. Precisely because of this lack of means, CGT has been the only union organization that has not signed the ADIF Annual Traffic Safety Plan.

We must also remember that when they approved the Railway Sector Law, which we also opposed, We indicated that this would have a negative impact on Security due to breaking its integrated system..

From CGT we are going to demand the maximum rigor in the investigations of the causes of the Santiago accident, participating in the different Traffic Safety Commissions (read the rest of the news in cgt.org.es)
